Cool tech: slim, flexible glass

Corning has recently unveiled new 100 micron thick, flexible glass for LCDs and OLEDs. This “Willow Glass” comes with new possibilities for smartphones, since theoretically, the shape of the device is no longer a barrier in design! Soon we’ll all be walking around with perfectly round Windows Phones… maybe.

The glass is paper-thin, but still tough enough to withstand normal usage. Smartphones obviously benefit from this, but its creator Corning Incorporated is also planning on using this technology on other things, such as solar cells and lighting.
